Windows 10: Windows 10 Mouse Lagging

I went to c:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\ and renamed the file to FMAPP.exe.old (you have to edit the extension, not just the file name).

 

I also have the Acer R5-572. I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and the mouse lag has been driving me nuts. I've been spending all day looking for fixes, and I think this finally did it. In the Task Manager, I force-closed fmapp.exe, then disabled the HD Audio Background Process and Realtek HD Audio Manager from starting at boot, and the trackpad and my mice are all behaving again. I actually just now created this account so that I could log in and thank you and let you know this worked for me.

Edit: Turning all the Realtek stuff off was messing with my microphone, so I re-enabled them and just renamed fmapp.exe in the C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\ folder to fmapp.exe.bak.

 

yeah it does seem like the Realtek thing is the cause for the Acer R7

 

I wonder what FMAPP.exe is used for. Hopefully Realtek will release a fix soon

 

Kudos to daniels7 for nailing this annoying issue. fmapp.exe caused the same problem on my Lenovo Flex 3. Killing the process and renaming the file did the trick. This was the only site with the answer, as far as I could find.

I will add, On my custom built desktop I had same problem as this tread. After renaming that realtek exe stated earlier, NO MORE MOUSE CRAWL when loading task manager, THANK GOD!

I also have a Lenovo Flex 3 with Windows 10 and this seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for tracking this down. I spent an hour on the phone with Lenovo support and ended up with a recommendation to roll back to Windows 8. Um, no thanks. I was very close to just returning the laptop to Costco.

 

I had trouble with the mouse pausing momentarily mainly in Chrome as pages were loading. For some reason when I moved the Logitech receiver to a USB 3.0 port from a 2.0 port it works without issue now from what I can tell.

 

I can confirm this Realtek fix also solved the mouse (and trackpad and trackpoint) lag on my Lenovo Helix.

I have trying looking in the C: drive and searching everywhere, its nt a process in my startup, and I cant even find a realtek folder on my computer.

 

Oh man, this fix made this computer feel 1000x better.

 

I also had luck with renaming the file, then I renamed it back to the original and downloaded the updated Realtek GB network driver and my problem was fixed and the web even loads faster.

 

i signed up specifically to say thank you. it was driving me mad and i hated my $2000 laptop to the point i would never use it.

now im all good.

 

Thanx a thousand times! On my Acer convertible it really startet after about a week of of setting up and tweaking.
After deactivating the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Autostart section of the task manager the problem seems to be fixed, and as the machine reacts better than ever, so it seems, that FMAPP.exe had always been slowing down the system before.
I guess, the (completlely unnessecary) HD Audio Manager can not be uninstalled, because it seems to be part of the audio-driver package. I've had problems with the audio software of the sound device manufacturer interfering with the windows sound system before (ever since windows 95 came along). This time, it seems to be a problem with something like an indexing routine, as the load on the harddiscs is temporally ridiculously high.
