  1. Windows 10 Mouse

Recently upgraded to Windows 10 (64 bit) from Vista (32 bit). This is also with an entirely new computer with higher specs. Still have the old Vista machine running along side during the transition (both machines have their own monitor, keyboard, and mouse). I have an old Logitech mouse on the Vista machine, and it works great. Fast dpi movement, and I don't even have it set on the fastest setting through Windows.

With the Windows 10 machine I bought a Microsoft mouse (3500), but even with the fastest setting through Windows, I can't get it to the desired quick speed. And yes, I have the box unchecked (setting for higher accuracy), which can slow the pointer speed down if it's checked. As a test, I plugged in the Logitech mouse from my Vista machine with the same results. The same mouse does not work as fast with my Windows 10 machine. I just can't adjust the pointer speed quick enough for my use like with my Visa machine and it's very annoying.

I saw a post on here where they list the top 10 mice for 2017, and the top pick was the Logitech M325. The specs on that say 1000 dpi, which is the same dpi speed as my Microsoft 3500 mouse. I would hate to spend $35 on a new mouse with the same results.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to increase the pointer speed with my Windows 10? Like I said, I have it on the fastest speed possible through the mouse settings in Windows. If that can't be increased in any way, maybe a suggestion on a faster mouse I can buy (higher dpi speed). Thanks.

  2. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so i figured it out myself

    Found the logfile in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

You need the Windows Development Kit to open it and a bit of googling to understand it.

Found out that a Daemon driver caused an error. Removed Daemon but this didn't solve it. (ps: Daemon itself worked normally).

I let hibernate my computer again and found another error with sptd2.sys: SCSI Pass Through Direct layer

More google and ended up on the duplexsecure site. Downloaded the W10 version and voila: problem fixed.

For the Windows support team: It would be really helpfull if you could pass problems to a more skilled helpdesk who can do more than proposing the standard solutions in case those won't work.

    Cheers

  3. Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so I also found out that this occurs when sleepmode (for me after 3 hours) changes into hibernate mode.

Seems like the going into hibernate and/or starting up from HIbernate results in a shutdown. In safeboot it works perfectly.

Anyone any idea how I can figure out where it goes wrong. Is there a way to log this (I couldn't find it in bootlog)

  4. Windows 10 Mouse

Welcome to the Forum FGNut*Wink I feel your pain so to speak, when I started testing Windows 10 I had a MS Wireless Mouse and Keyboard and neither would work. MS said they were not compatible. I found that strange in itself. Maybe a harware issue with your HP? Try another USB port. I now use a Corsair m65Pro mouse with no issues. Did your mouse come with software?

  5. Hello Josey. Thank you for the warm welcome to the forum. Yes, I tried other USB ports with the same result (all the same speed). I wasn't at my computer when I posted (posted via the mobile app), so I couldn't remember exactly which Logitech mouse model I had. I am now back, and the Logitech mouse I have is exactly the one one I mentioned that was in the Top 10 best computer mice (M325). And no, the Microsoft mouse came with no software.

I have to mention that the mouse pointer speed I'm getting on my Windows 10 machine is not super slow to the point where it's like a major problem, but it's not as fast as what I'm used to, and I'm just not comfortable with it. It just needs to be a little faster for my taste. I have this brand new Windows 10 machine, and I need to be 100% comfortable with using it, and being comfortable with the way the mouse works is a big factor in my book, since just about everything we do on these machines rely on it.

I just checked the mouse that you have, and that's a real professional gaming mouse, which gets speeds up to 12000 dpi. That would definitely work for me, but I would prefer a wireless. From what I can see it's not wireless. I guess I might have to go that route, and look into getting a gaming one, but which is also wireless. I really don't want to spend that much for a mouse, but if I have to, I have to. Maybe there's another Logitech or other non-gaming mouse in the $30 - $40 range which would work? Thanks again for your input.
