Windows 10: Windows 10 needs a QA team

Windows 10 introduced some great changes to the OS. In many ways, it's the best version of Windows, to-date. It also seems to be the worst, buggiest version of Windows.


In my last install of Windows 10, the Windows Store stopped being able to install apps. This went on for months and was deeply frustrating. I tried all the resources I could find, to try and fix the problem. Nothing worked.


I just re-installed Windows 10 for the third or fourth time, in the last couple of years. After I installed, I wanted the new Edge which was not included. I installed the new Edge and it evidently messed up the Office icons in the start menu. They became irritatingly tiny and difficult to see. As these are not the "real" Office apps, I decided to remove them.


Removing the first app got the "uninstall" feature stuck in an infinite loop. It never finished. I waited ten minutes for it to remove a link to a website. Nothing happened. I couldn't uninstall anything else because it said to "wait until the current program in finished uninstalling".


Finally, I noticed some phantom Edge processes running. I opened Edge and closed it. Magically, that closed all the processes. That also released the uninstall process.


Installing basic apps, especially those by Microsoft, with a fresh installation of Windows 10, should not break vital functionality. I am not your test team, Microsoft. I am not getting paid to submit bugs to you and spend my time writing reports, recording videos and taking screenshots.


Despite all the progress made with Windows 10, I am becoming tired of the constant problems that require me to become a QA test team. Sadly, Windows 7 is starting to look really good, by comparison.


Please, stop ignoring QA. It is a field of its own that deserves resources and time. Developers are not a QA department. They cannot be and you cannot make them into that.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

New Teams

Hi,

With regard to your concern, you can add a new team on Cortana by following the steps below:

• Click Cortana or the circle icon.
• Click the Notebook icon, scroll down and click Sports.
• Click Add a team and start typing the name of a team.
• Select the results.

Note: If the the team does not show up in the list you cannot add it to the Notebook. We suggest that you send a feedback using Windows Feedback hub so we can take note of this feature for future updates.
