Windows 10 NETSH TCP Receive Window limiting connection speeds

    Start of this story.

Between Steam and XBox PC I would download games onto my computer with a Gigabit local network on a 500Mbps Internet speed that I pay for.

For the longest time, Steam would download games at around 20MBps and XBox at 18MBps. Nothing slow, but not what I am paying for. I figured out that I could change the download servers on Steam to play nicer with me and I eventually got my 500Mbps rated download speeds.

But the XBox App is still showing speeds hovering around 150Mbps... I eventually went through the motions of testing things like Deliver Optimization and the likes without any change to the download speeds I was seeing. It wasn't until I went low enough to NETSH Auto Tuning and disabling it that I saw it affecting my speeds... not for the better though as it limited the speeds to either 50/75Mbps. Setting it back to normal would bring my speeds back to 150Mbps.

Once and for all, what is my problem? Why can't I download Xbox Games on the Xbox App at my network's rated speeds?

    :)

How to reset whole netsh? (Windows 7)

Was wondering has the commands changed somehow since on Windows XP and on Windows Vista 'NETSH INT RESET ALL' cleaned entire netsh up from top to bottom.

Now on Windows 7 this same command says no go and only way I can see it is by building .cmd/.bat which does something like:

Code: netsh winsock reset all netsh int 6to4 reset all netsh int ipv4 reset all netsh int ipv6 reset all netsh int httpstunnel reset all netsh int isatap reset all netsh int portproxy reset all netsh int tcp reset all netsh int teredo reset all[/quote] now the king of the hill of bugs is this doesn't actually do even it's job even after reboot. values setup to are not reset to defaults. (I know I could add more entire list of entries there is, but looking for clean delete/wipe settings & default everything not to dump entire list of resets.)

So, anyone got a plan B?

    Win7 Auto-tuning Feature

I've read some reports that Auto-tuning Feature in win7 is better then Vista. However, some still wish to disable this feature. I honestly don't know why one would do this as I'm not finding any real benefit for doing so.

    source
    source2

    netsh interface tcp show global
This shows the status check or current setting of TCP Auto-Tuning

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
    This will disable auto-tuning

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
    This will enable auto-tuning

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted
This will set the autotuninglevel to "Allow the receive window to grow beyond its default value, but do so very conservatively".

Wired network speed capped after fresh Windows 10 installation

I know you said that the problem doesn't show up when you run speed tests, but is there a chance of some type of bandwidth policy , or application prioritization, or QOS setting that has been enabled by default or by accident? I realize that it wouldnt be just a single device doing it ,but I really can't think of what the heck would cause this, and I'm trying to think of what I would do if I was in your position. resetting the router to factory default would be one of them ,as well as power cycling both the modem and router ( even though it's a shot in the dark). Super strange

have you tried setting your windows adapter link speed to "auto" ? instead of full duplex, or whatever other manual options there is?

maybe try to run elevated CMD prompt:
check auto tune setting? netsh interface tcp show global.
Locate the "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level" value under TCP Global Parameters. If it is not set to disabled, it is being used by Windows to optimize TCP connections.

or try disabling auto tune to see if it helps with. netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
if that isnt the issue, you can enable it again with. netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
