All my Network Connections show the path to the .sys file instead of the friendly name. This in on two laptops I have. Network Properties on Win 10 build 1909 - Network Properties showing@%systemroot%/system32/drivers/tcpip.sys, -10100 for things like IPV4. Visual Issue.

It isn't causing a networking problem just a visual issue - users are upset at the change though. Has anyone seen this?

Our networking properties on several computers randomly started showing things like for IPV4 : @%systemroot%/system32/drivers/tcpip.sys, -10100 . Only realized it after some of our software guys started complaining
they couldn't find IPV4 to set a static IP.

It isn't happening on all of our computers, but I have 2 IT techs and at least 2 software devs.

( Isn't doing the issue on a few desktops and servers we looked at.)

No new major changes - besides weekly updates.

    What I've tried:

    • Rebuild TCP/IP stack
    • Uninstall / reinstall latest ethernet/ wireless drivers
    • update bios
    • update Windows 10 to latest build / updates
    • sfc /scannow ( no issues)
    • Update/ reinstall our VPN software
    • regsvr32 %systemroot%\System32\netshell.dll
    • regsvr32 %systemroot%\System32\ole32.dll

Nothing above has fixed the issue.

  3. VPN TCP/IPv4 properties

So far in Windows 10 I have not been able to open the TCP/IPv4 properties of a VPN, whether newly created or created before upgrading to Windows 10.

This is very much needed because in the Advanced properties, I need to be able to disable "Use default gateway on remote network". With this enabled it cuts off all other network paths while the VPN is connected. With this disabled, you can still connect
to other network resources. And it should also be disabled so that you don't have your local internet browsing go through the remote system but through your own local network.

VPN Connection - Cannot open Networking Properties IPv4

We use a lot of VPN PPTP Connections. On most we turn off "Use default gateway on remote network". See the image below that shows where this setting is turned off.

We cannot open the properties for Internet Protocol Version 4 on VPN connections under Windows 10. This is located at Network Connections and Properties of a VPN Connection. Networking Tab, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties. But under Win 10 the properties dialog does not open.

This has been tested on several Windows 10 systems and we have enabled Administrator and tested under that login as well.
