Hi,This question has been asked multiple times here and elsewhere and I have never seen an answer. Trying again:Is there a way to recreate missing network profiles? I have a computer with an Ethernet adapter, a Wifi adapter and Bluetooth and the profiles key is empty.

    :)

Windows 10 NetworkList in Registry Missing Profiles?

Note that there are actually two Windows computers with this problem. Some NetworkList Profiles were manually deleted from the registry (but nothing else) on both computers.

One computer is on a domain; the other is not.

Domain PC Windows version: Windows 10 Enterprise 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1348)

non-domain PC Windows version: Windows 10 Pro 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1466)

    Thank you

Windows 10 NetworkList in Registry Missing Profiles?

    Hi:

Profiles from Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles were deleted from my computer. The networks still work, but there is now no way to change the type from public to private, for example.

Is there a way to fix this issue?

Windows 10 NetworkList in Registry Missing Profiles?

    Hello ingEng,

    Thank you for responding.

Most common reasons why we are having this problem is the usage of third-party security software, software Firewall will block some Windows settings. But if you are not using any, this could be something to do with some changes on the latest build of Windows 10. As per checking, this hasn't been reported as bug.

In this case, we encourage to send a direct report to our Windows team. This way they will be able to review your submission and it will helps us to continually improve your experience with our product.

Kindly follow the steps on this link:

Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app

I'm not sure if you have done the following steps, but you may try these to see if it will help to restore the settings and use an alternative ways to enable the network type.

    METHOD 1: Disable third-party Firewall

This can only be applied if you are using any third-party security software.

    1. Open your anti-virus software.
    2. Check Firewall settings, and disable it temporarily.
    3. Observe the issue if it's now working.
    METHOD 2: Check Windows settings

You may try to check Windows settings to see if you can change it there instead.

    1. Disabled the third party firewall for a while.
    2. Open Settings.
    3. Click on Network & Internet > Status.
    4. Click on Change Network Properties.
    5. Check if Network profile option is there.
    6. If it works, you can then enable your third-party firewall back.
METHOD 3: Change Network List Manager Policies using Group Policy

This is an alternative way to configure Network List Manager Policies for one device, you can use the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in, and edit the local computer policy.

    1. Open Local Group Policy Editor.
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Network List Manager Policies
    3. Double-click the network you'd want to change, the settings should show under Network Location tab.
METHOD 4: Change Network type using PowerShell

Second alternative way to change network type is to run PowerShell command.

    1. Right-click start menu.
    2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    3. Type the following command:

      Get-NetConnectionProfile
    4. Type another command to change the network your network profile to Private or Public.

      Set-NetConnectionProfile -InterfaceIndex <index number> -NetworkCategory Private
Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

    Best regards,
