Windows 10: Windows 10 new PC not showing CR2 thumbnails

I recently purchased a new PC. It does not display thumbnails for CR2 files at all but all other image files work normally. Checked all folder settings and they are correct. Tried to install Codec pack for 64 bit but it says not available for this version of Windows. I have Windows 10 Home version 1903 dated 20-10-2019 OS build 18362.418

Thumbnails do not show for pictures

I just upgraded to from Windows 7 to Windows 10 tonight and got the same results as SBrewer. Windows 7 gave me CR2 thumbnails in explorer, but Windows 10 doesn't. I went through Giridhar J's 11 step procedure to avail. File explorer gives thumbnails
of jpgs, but not of the CR2s.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Unable to preview new CR2 Files in Windows 10 after newest update.

Hello Bodemer, my name is Irisdiel and I am an independent advisor.

I suggest you follow the steps below listed by Microsoft as they may help you with your issue.

1. in File Explorer > View > Extra large icons. large icons or medium icons - One of them is checked, As these are only views which would show a thumbnail of the picture.

2. Now type Control in Windows Start Search box > Click Control Panel > Type Folder in Control Panel Search box > Click File Explorer Options > View tab > Uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails (If this is already unchecked, check it and OK..Then go back
again and uncheck it and OK

3. Type control in Windows Start Search box > Click Control Panel > Type system in CP search box > Click View advanced system settings > Click Settings under Performance > Check Show thumbnails instead of icons
