Windows 10 - "No Internet access" (even though I'm clearly connected)

I recently updated to Win10 version 2004 without any issues (aside from the already identified issue with drive optimization).

A few moments ago, I also decided to update my graphics driver to the most recent version (Nvidia 452.06). I followed the same procedure I've done countless times: DDU in safe mode to remove the old drivers, clean install after a restart. Everything appeared to be working correctly.

Then, I opened the Microsoft Store to check if Flight Simulator had been downloaded (I have Game Pass and had already pre-loaded it). To my surprise, I got a "You'll need the Internet for this". I then tried all fixes of which I knew: clearing the MS Store's cache, signing out then signing back in, etc. No dice.

After that, I checked my PC's network settings. On the Settings app, network status is listed as "No Internet access" (I'm typing this from the same PC, hardwired to my router via Ethernet). Tried WiFi, same message. Tried configuring a static IP, disabling and re-enabling the network adapter, flushing DNS and resetting IP via IP config on a command prompt... nothing. Finally, I followed the troubleshooter and went with a full network reset. Rebooted and still the same behavior.

Not sure what's going on. Internet is working except for anything Microsoft-related (Store, Xbox app, etc.). Any help is appreciated, as I really want to try out Flight Simulator.

  2. Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

A couple of days ago I upgraded my desktop to windows 10 after getting one of those MS prompts. However now I cannot access the internet and suspect the drivers from the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-ud4 motherboard does not support the internet drivers required. Searching the manufacturers website has not given me any joy either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

  3. Unable to access internet connection with error: "Windows Sockets Registry entries required for network connectivity are missing " on Windows 10

    Hi Dale,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

As per the description I understand that you are unable to access internet connection after upgrading to Windows 10.

    • Do let us know if you are using wired/ wireless internet connection?

Winsock or Windows Sockets is a technical specification that defines how Windows network software should access network services.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if you are able to connect to internet.

Step 1: Perform a Winsock Reset

    • Open the Windows Start Screen or
Start Menu and type cmd in the search box.
    • Right-click Command Prompt or
cmd in the search results and select Run as Administrator.
    • Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt window and press
Enter. Wait for Windows to finish resetting your Winsock configuration.
    • Reboot your computer.

Step 2: Run Internet Connection Troubleshooter

    Internet Connection Troubleshooter
find and fix the problems with connecting to the internet or to websites.

    • Click on Start; in the start search type
      Troubleshooter and hit Enter.
    • In the left pane, click on View all.
    • Click on Internet Connection Troubleshooter.
    • Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue, we will be happy to help you further.

Windows 10 - "No Internet access" (even though I'm clearly connected)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
