Windows 10: windows 10 not detecting headset

whenever i plug my headset into my pc, windows 10/my pc doesn't detect it as a device anywhere. i've already tried showing disabled devices in sound settings headphones don't show up, uninstalling and reinstalling audio driver realtek high definition, rolling back the audio driver, and still doesn't work.

my headset has a 3.5mm plug

when i plug my headset into the headphones jack, sound does come through the headset but the microphone doesn't work. it also still doesn't display the headphones in device manager or settings/anywhere, it just shows up as "Speakers" the same as when the headset is unplugged.

i also plugged my headset into the headphones/microphone jack the symbol showed microphone+headphones the headset doesn't work at all, and sound just plays from my pc speakers and microphone still doesn't work

again it doesn't display it as a device

can someone tell me how to fix this? do i need a y cable or something??

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

USB headset not detected

I have a Koss CS95-USB headset that work flawlessly with windows 7. After upgrading to windows 10 the headset does not work at all. Windows 10 does not even act as if it detects the device being plugged in. No pop-up saying a new device is detected, no
device in the device manager to even look at. I have looked at all the problem post about USB headset and tried all the solution listed but non of them are useful because they all rely on updating or changing the installed driver and since my device doesn't
even get detected no driver is installed to change.

If anybody has a solution or if someone can give me a USB headset model that definitely works with windows 10 that would be very helpful.
