Windows 10: Windows 10 not finding built in cameras - a simple fix (in some cases!) Helps with Skype too.

I’ve seen lots of postings about this, many proffering complicated steps to check out and fix this, even when everything is saying you have the latest and correct drivers! Tends to happen with older machines!


I stuck with old Skype and ignored the problem, but have now found a simple fix, at least for my Lenovo Thinkpad T510i (but it might be worth a try for other machines!).

• go to Device manager
• go to Imaging Devices
• find Integrated Camera
• go to update driver
• browse my computer for driver software
• select and install the USB video device driver. (Even though you may not have one, ignore that trivial fact!)

Et voila!


The camera will now reappear under “Cameras”, Windows 10 will have found it, Camera app and “new” Skype will work with pictures/video.


Hope that helps a few people get there faster than i did!

My built in camera doens't be recognized by windows 10 camera app

Windows 10 cannot find the camera.

Hi,

Windows cannot find the camera. I've checked on-line and suggestions say to verify if blocked by antivirus (avast) I verified and does not seem to be the case.

Camera works fine in Skype. Camera is an old Microsoft Live vx1000, windows is 10 Home any suggestion is welcome.

I think it should work, since camera is also microsoft plus it is fine in Skype!
