  1. Windows 10 not recognizing Kobo Aura H2O is plugged in


    When I plug in my eReader, the eReader recognises it is connected and successfully charges, but Windows 10 does not show the device as being connected. This means I am able to drag and drop my work files onto the eReader anymore.


    This issue has been raised a number of times, seems to get fixed, then reappears. Is there a code management issue at Microsoft?

    Given the number of times I have seen this issue posted here and in other forums makes me believe it seems to occur on a very regular basis - has anyone found a work around?

    Hi, I have Windows 10 and a Kobo Aura H2O. I have been having trouble with the computer not recognizing that there is a device plugged into it. Before now it would eventually recognize something was plugged in until yesterday it is not responding
    at all. When the Kobo is plugged in, the kobo will recognize that it is connected to a computer, ask if I want to connect, I hit yes, and the kobo says "connected and charging" but the device doesn't show up anywhere on the computer that I can find. I have
    tried 5 different USB cords, and all 3 ports on my computer. I have uninstalled and installed all sorts of drivers, and the Kobo desktop app, and had no luck. I'm not super tech savvy so don't know where to go from here. Please Help!!!

    Same here. Windows 10 does not recognize my Kobo Aura One.

    But on my other PC with Windows 7 the Kobo Aura One is recognized properly.

    Some information on the Win 10 rig that causes the trouble:

    • Surface Book, 16GB
    • Win10 Pro, 64 bit, Version 1607
    • Kobo Aura One, Software version 4.2.8110
    • Kobo Desktop 4.2.6122

    Here's what I have tried so far:

    • Factory reset of the Kobo device
    • Tried various different USB cables in various ports
    • Installed the Kobo desktop app
    • Searched for the most recent updates/patch for the Kobo device and installed them
    • Searched for the most recent updates/patch/drivers for my Win10 rig and installed them
    • I have tried the steps suggested by Mario Tum (Dec 26)
    • Asked Kobo customer support for help (they asked me to try some default stuff like re-plugging in the USB cable, but no real help so far; they told me they have passed the issue to 'someone else' within Kobo - whatever that means)

    Nothing resolved the issue. Since my Win7 rig recognizes my Kobo Aura One without any problems, I guess the problem lies with Win10.

    Hi Andrea,

    To help you with your concern with an unrecognized device, we suggest that you do the following steps:

    • Type Troubleshooting in the Cortana search box, then select it from the list.
    • Click on View All on the top left corner.
    • Select Hardware and Devices and follow the instructions for troubleshooting.

    If the issue persists, try updating your Universal Serial Bus controllers
    under Device Manager. You can refer to this
    article
    for steps in updating your drivers.
