Windows 10: windows 10 nuke display settings

I enabled a setting on my display adapter using the feature "Remove display from Desktop", well this wrecked havoc on my machine as now I dont have any displays that work. This is a laptop, using a dock doesnt work either as it seems that its a projected display.


I am looking for a way to reset this setting completely, i can boot into safe mode.


I have tried several things from doing websearches:


1 removing all these key entries supposedly this wipes all settings on displays every done

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Connectivity >> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\ScaleFactors >>

2 Uninstalling all video drivers in safe mode will then get me booted in normal mode but after about a minute windows detects the adapter and its all gone again. During this short time the setting is grayed out so i cant really do anything


Apparently this setting is not supposed to work when only one display is attached but that is not the case, this is clearly a BUG. Any way to reset this short of reinstalling windows? Is there a registry setting that would clear all this out?


Note: docking to an external monitor does not work either

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Display settings

To reset the settings back to default, follow these steps:

• Go to your desktop, right click and select Display Settings.
• Choose the appropriate settings from the options under Display.
