Windows 10 October 2018 (1809) Update / 17763.1: Microsoft Store does not work with IPv6 off

    Hello,

I have upgraded from Windows 10 Pro x64 April 2018 (1803) Update using the media creation tool (I have run setup.exe from the media) and I had two problems (will create two separate questions). This one is about Microsoft Store not working and luckily has a workaround.

When I opened Microsoft Store after the upgrade, I got:

    Check your connection
Microsoft Store needs to be online. It looks like you're not.
    Code: 0x80072EFD
    CV: NyTCWewIIkGvbKBx

There is (was) absolutely nothing wrong with my connection, everything else works. I do not have any advanced firewall (just behind a router/NAT, never had any issues) and before the upgrade I did not have any such problem. Other Store apps such as Spotify work without issues (even though they do not update when Store is not working, I guess).

Disabling Windows Firewall did not help, but after some fiddling, I have found out that this happens when you have IPv6 disabled in your ethernet adapter options. Once I checked "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), Store started working, when I unchecked it again, it had the issue again.

This does not make any sense. Windows 10 October 2018 (1809) Update / 17763.1: Microsoft Store does not work with IPv6 off :) My ISP does not provide IPv6 yet, I have disabled everywhere as it is not useful to me (yet).

    This should be fixed.

P.S.: Isn't there a better place to report technical bugs than this forum?

    :)

Windows 10 October 2018 (1809) Update / 17763.1: Microsoft Store does not work with IPv6 off

Windows 10 October 2018 Update is the official name of Microsoft's nex

Microsoft today announced that the name of its next Windows 10 feature update will be the "October 2018 Update," following the format set earlier this year with the April 2018 Update. It appears Microsoft isn't trying to name updates after themes anymore, which is great news as the theme-based names for updates used in the past never really made much sense. From Microsoft Corporate Vice President Roanne Sones:I'm pleased to announce that our next feature update to Windows will be called the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. With this update, we'll be bringing new features and enhancements to the nearly 700 million devices running Windows 10 that help people make the most of their time. We'll share more details about the update over the coming weeks. The Windows 10 October 2018 Update will launch as version 1809, and I'm hearing from my sources that Microsoft is planning to internally sign-off on this release on September 25, with plans to begin rolling it out to the public in the first half of October. Assuming all goes according to plan, Microsoft will compile the build it intends to rollout to the public on September 14, and will test that with Insiders before signing off on the 25.
