Windows 10: Windows 10 October update gets Build 17763.165 in Release Preview Ring

If you’re a Windows Insider subscribed to the Release Preview Ring, you will receive Build 17763.165 KB4469342 cumulative update. Microsoft quietly pushed the cumulative update to Insiders this week and it’s showing up on more devices today.

Microsoft hasn’t officially announced Windows 10 Build 17763.165 for Insiders yet but an announcement is expected next week. At the moment, the changelog and a KB page aren’t live just yet.

If you’re a non-Insider, you won’t see this update and you should not join the Insider program to grab Build 17763.165 as Microsoft is planning to release a new cumulative update to the general public next week or later this month.

Windows 10 version 1809 and cumulative updates


Windows 10 October 2018 Update was re-released on Tuesday with a bunch of fixes and improvements to address the feedback and complaints Microsoft received from users. Windows 10 October 2018 Update offers a flawless experience for the majority of users but in some cases, the customers may experience issues with File Association, iCloud and there are several other problems outlined by Microsoft.

To ensure users are aware of all issues, Microsoft is updating its support document whenever a new problem in Windows 10 October 2018 Update is discovered. The company has already confirmed that another cumulative update is likely to land later this month to address problems such as the File Association bug.

Earlier this week, Microsoft released the Patch Tuesday update to address the security and some non-security issues but the entire focus was on vulnerabilities. The second November 2018 update rollout will begin soon and as it happens every month, the focus of the second patch will be on non-security issues and general improvements for the customers.

It’s important to install the latest Windows 10 cumulative updates as they bring a system up-to-date by simply downloading and installing a single package, and includes all the fixes that have been released by the company in the past.

Apart from Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Microsoft is also working on new Windows 10 19H1 builds. The latest preview build of Windows 10 19H1 added new light theme mode, introduced modern snipping experience and fixed tons of bugs including the File Association problem. Similar changes are expected to arrive with the next Windows 10’s Spring 2019 preview build.
