Do Windows 10 OLD Builds f.e RTM work on NEWER CPU? I want to run Windows 10 LTSC which is based on Build 1809 but the CPU I'm planning to use is based at around same age as the Windows 10 LTSC build released.

Basically the CPU I'm trying to run is i3 7020u from a Laptop and one site says It released on 2018 and another says It released on August 2016 however this is not really my question, I'm curious would older builds of Windows 10 run on Newer CPU?

I've seen Windows XP run on newer CPU than It's release date so I'm confused. What kind of issues may I face using older builds on newer CPU, would I be able to install Windows 10 at all?

Tell me your experiences using newer cpu on older version of windows.

Don't tell me to not to use LTSC, that's just an example, I may or may not use Windows LTSC I'm just curious weather older builds like 1607,1809 would run fine.

Thanks for anyone that'll help me.

EDIT: I did some research and apparently LTSC supports up to Kaby Lake so i3 7020u (7th gen Kaby Lake) would work fine on It? Again It's not the oldest build in first place It's Build 1809 of Windows 10. So I'm safe?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

Changing my MOBO and CPU a

I'm doing PC upgrades and changes entirely for my new mini-itx build.

I'm not sure about how the process would work, but what are the appropriate steps I need to undertake before making my changes?

    • My personal data and files are backed up to my Onedrive, and have nothing to lose in terms of data.
    • I have an additional copy of Windows 10 (but would prefer not to use it in-case I do another PC build).
    • My MOBO and CPU upgrades are polar opposites of my current hardware:
      • OLD HARDWARE
        • Intel i5 6500
        • AsRock Killer MOBO
      • New Hardware
        • AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
        • Asus Strix X-470
This is my first time doing a particular change so guiding steps would be greatly appreciated! Things like how to wipe my hard-drive and reinstall Windows, etc.
