Windows 10: Windows 10 on a Precision 690 with 64 gigs of RAM

I'm sure it is something that I have overlooked but I'm wondering if someone might be able to give me some perspective on why my Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise installs on a Precision 690 with 64 Gigs of RAM, will only use 32 even though it says that 64 is present. Is it a hardware limitation, a driver limitation? I've used 48 gigs of RAM with WIndows 8.1 on this, so I'm curious why Windows 10 doesn't go higher than 32.

Windows 10 Pro on Dell Precision 690

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a Precision 690. I've spent more time working around the hardware limitations in this system than I'd like to admit.

The Xeon X5335 is a quad-core processor, which will only function properly in certain revisions of Dell Precision 690 motherboards or used in a single processor configuration. In order to run dual-quad core processors without POST issues in your Precision
690, you must own a system with motherboard ID 0MY171 A02 (yes, the revision matters). The sticker ID can be found at the top of the board just under the hard drive caddies.

The issue isn't in Windows, but in hardware components of the 690's logic board and firmware.

Some users have been able to get dual-quads installed and functioning on 690 motherboard 0DT029 and 0MY171 A01 with a trick involving a BIOS downgrade to A01 and bringing the unit up from a cold start with no AC power to the power supply initially. I've
also heard of some hacks involving removing the CMOS battery and bringing the unit up from a cold start as well.

Honestly, if you don't already have a 0MY171 A02 board and you're not looking to scour the Internet looking for a refurbished one, you can always install two Xeon 5160 dual-cores with a 3GHz clock speed. I purchased two from eBay for like $8.

I have dell Precision 690 and I have dual core xeon 5150 @2.66 and I'm running windows 10 pro and its running really smoothly, as for the graphic card I'm using MSI GTX 650 Ti 1GB DDR and I have 2TB HDD + the original one which is about 480 HDD
