  1. Windows 10 on PC - Switch/Focus/Maximize to a specific open app in in the Taskbar

Hello, I'm trying to create a macro that will switch to a specific open application that appears in the taskbar. I don't want to open a new instance, so the path to the .exe file won't work. The application may not have been opened sequentially, so anything that refers to a location, or tab order, won't work either. (x,y axis, WinKey+1, Alt+Tab, Task View, etc.) This is intended for a disabled person who needs to switch between two specific, open, applications regardless of their order or location in the taskbar and cannot reliably use the mouse or the "Alt+Tab scroll through" method. Any suggestions?

Perhaps I'm looking in the incorrect area for this information? Rather than the GUI, might there be something in Task Manager that would offer access to the specific open task? I just need to reference the open task and be able to Switch/Focus/Maximize on a key press. (I realize that Switch/Focus/Maximize are three different things, but the key component is the Focus so that the internal commands of the application software can take over and perform the additional needed steps.)

Hopefully I'm clear in my request. If not, please ask for clarification. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you!

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

One Window hides another window When it is maximized and when it is clicked on taskbar it never shows it runs on the back of maximized window and never display untill maximized window is minimized

    Hi,

You might be experiencing this problem because the rendering layer priority of the maximized application is respected even when you switch focus to another program. Normally, when you maximize an application, it will hide or cover all other applications
until you switch to a different program. To help us identify the cause of this behavior, we would like to know the following information:

    • Do you only experience this issue with a particular program?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer before experiencing this issue?
    • Are you using multiple monitors?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, you might also be experiencing this issue because Windows Explorer (Explorer.exe) is not working correctly or not responding.
Windows Explorer is the process that provides the graphical interface such as the Start menu, taskbar, notification area, and File Explorer. To sort this issue, we suggest that you restart Windows Explorer. The easiest way is by restarting your computer.
If you do not want to restart your computer, you can also follow the steps below:

    • Hold Ctrl+Shift while right-clicking on an empty area of the taskbar.
    • On the modified context menu, select Exit Explorer. The Start menu and taskbar should disappear.
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
    • Click More details on the bottom part of the window.
    • Click on the File menu, and select Run new task.
    • Type explorer.exe, and click OK.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue, and we will be glad to assist you further.

  4. Windows 10 on PC - Switch/Focus/Maximize to a specific open app in in the Taskbar

opening apps in task bar maximized

Like most people I expect, I've organized my shortcuts on the desktop so that some apps open minimized, some normal, and some maximized. This is done right-clicking on the shortcut, opening the properties window and choosing in the 'run' window whichever
size you prefer for that particular app/program. For example, I like to open file explorer as large as possible, i.e. maximized.

When it comes to shortcuts on the taskbar, however, I've never found a method which works. Take the file explorer shortcut. I can do this:

right-click folder which brings up the following list of options: desktop, downloads, documents, pictures, file explorer, unpin from taskbar

I right-click file explorer, then on 'properties' then choose run 'maximized', and click OK

Next time I click on the file explorer shortcut on the taskbar, instead of opening maximized, it opens in normal size.

I can maximize it manually of course, but it doesn't remember this, and the next time I open it from the taskbar, it's back to normal again.

This has been going on in multiple versions of Windows, at least back to Windows 7 and 8.

Does anybody have a solution to this?
