Windows 10: windows 10/one drive & my missing download items

All the items in my downloads folder have disappeared,i do not remember hitting delete by mistake.I've been reading various posts on here & some have mentioned one drive.So far as i remembe4r i have never saved anything to one drive but i did take a look at it.I read something on here that seemed to indicate that some files/folders were automatically saved to one drive,is this true.


The reason I ask is because I recently noticed when using disk clean up that one drive had suddenly appeared showing 1000bytes on it.I knew that I hadn't actually stored anything on one drive so I tried deleting it using the clean up but it didn't clean it.So I tried deleting one drive & couldn't.I checked my programs in settings & uninstall & one drive was the so I clicked uninstall & it seems to have done that.


I'm now wondering if in doing that I've cleared everything out of the downloads folder.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:

• Right-click on your C: drive.
• Select "Properties".
• Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
• After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
• Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
• Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
