Windows 10 onscreen keyboard changed the right-Ctrl key code to be the same as the...

For the life of me I see no reason to change the practice of the past almost 40 years and use the same key code for the left-Ctrl and right-Ctrl key, as happened with the updates to Windows 10 in January.

The original PC keyboard had an annoying problem. The "Enter" key was overloaded. Sometimes it was a "New Line" key, and sometimes it was an "Enter" key. As long as the App didn't need both functions at the same time, this wasn't a big deal, but for apps that needed both, it was a major problem. You can see this effect every time you go to a web page with a multi-line input box where the Enter key gives you a new line. Because of this problem the Enter key behaves differently from input areas that don't allow a new-line key.

Some apps fixed this problem by turning the "Right Ctrl" key into the "Enter" key function, and the keyboard "Enter" key is always a "New Line" key. With the January update to Windows 10 tablets, these apps have been disabled unless a real keyboard is attached. The prior onscreen keyboard is still part of the system, but I have no idea how to make it the default onscreen keyboard or invoke it instead of this poorly thought out new onscreen keyboard.

Can anyone tell me how to return to the prior onscreen keyboard? Are there any plans to fix the new onscreen keyboard?

    :)
