    Windows 10 partially deleted a user folder which I tried to recover from Windows.old


    Initially I deleted a Service which came up flagged as malicous, an unsigned file system driver see picture for example. Turned out it was legit, Windows was not able to boot, throwing BSOD 0xc0000024, with no availavle tool I was able to recover, a backup image did not exist. I tried a recovery stick, repairing with an USB W10 installer, and with an other PCs W10 installation. Nothing helped to undelete the Service. How can such state be fixed?So, I reinstalled Windows fresh from USB. Everything went well, the old user folder was in Windows10.oldI did cut&paste the contents to the same

    I deleted $Windows~.BT folder that was propably Windows 10 files. How to recover?

    The Windows $BT folder is there in case you want to recover the old OS. It's not needed for an upgrade.

    I think BT is an abbreviation for "Bloat". lol

    So about two weeks ago I deleted a $Windows~.BT folder (through the cmd). Now I know that was Windows 10 files ready for install.

    How can I download it again? I'm sure I need to reinstall some update. But which?

    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
