Windows 10: Windows 10 PC immediately restarts after being sent to sleep, tried fixes, no change

I'm having a maddening problem with Windows 10 Pro which I first noticed after the 20H2 update. When I set the PC to sleep, it immediately wakes up again. I've tried everything I've found on forums:


1. I've run powercfg -requests. I got 'None' returned for all fields, so there doesn't seem to be 3rd party software causing it.


2. I ran powercfg -devicequery wake_armed. This returned Realtek PCIe Family Controller, Standard PS/2 Keyboard, HID-compliant mouse 003 and HID Keyboard Device 001. In Device manager I disabled the PCIe controller and the mouse, though I kept the keyboard so I can use the sleep button. Note - I only have 1 keyboard - not sure why there are two listed?. While I was about it, I also allowed the PC to put all other devices available to sleep.


3. I've made all the changes recommended in Additional Power Settings, including allowing the computer to sleep in Multimedia Settings and turning off 'fast boot mode'.


4. I've checked every single one of my drivers are up to date they were.


My system is: windows 10 Pro 20H2, Intel Core i5-3570K, Asus P8Z68-V LX motherboard, 16GB DDR3 SDRAM running off an SSD with a backup SSD and two HDDs.


Absolutely out of ideas. Only option I can think of is update rollback, but don't want to as it's a fresh install and I'm not convinced this would help.

Windows 10 - Wakes immediately from sleep.

Sleep mode saves the state of all open applications to memory, then powers down both the display panel and hard disk drive. However, if it often wakes up from Sleep mode, you need to change the Sleep settings under Power &
sleep. You can also refer this link regarding shutdown, sleep,
or hibernate your PC.

If that doesn’t help, kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it works.

Method 1: Restore default settings of power plan.

Let’s restore the power settings to its default and check if it makes any difference. To do that,

• Go to Control Panel and select Power Options.
  
• Click on Change advanced power settings.
• Select the option Restore default settings for this plan.
  

Method 2: I suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the following article and see if it helps.

Change when the PC sleeps

The Sleep Mode feature in Windows 10 allows you to use your device immediately if it's in idle. Based on the information that you've provided, we'd like to gather additional information. Please answer the following:

• When did the issue start?
• Did you install any recent updates prior to the issue?
• What is the make and model of your device?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Windows 10 PC, issues with sleep and slow boots

@Mussels Welcome to the most widespread, yet elusive to pin down problem plaguing W10 even with SSD's! (meaning it's not your HDD)

You can googlebing to your heart's content and try every wild-assed fix out there, but you'll only make a dent in your frustration level.

What has MOSTLY helped me is turning off hibernation by turning off all sleep and power saving options in Windows, and turning off fast boot by deleting hiberfil through the CMD line (as an admin).

Now it only hangs on boot or restart 1 out of 5 times. LOL, and I call that progress. I have two steps to take that look like they might be promising.

I'm going to disable all power saving features in BIOS, and try a new BIOS which was released after W10.

No one, including M$ has figured it out yet. Some of the speculative fixes you'll find come from their own forums where so-called Windows experts seem to be the most clueless of everyone.

Anyway, I listed what has helped me somewhat after 4 weeks.
