    Windows 10 PC occasionally becomes borderline unusable due to mass amounts of lag


    So I have had my pc for about 2 years now, and for a while, I've had this issue where after a seemingly random amount of time as low as about half an hour after turning my PC on, my PC will just freeze up and any input will take roughly 2-3 seconds to register with my only solution being restarting my PC entirely, I have no idea what the cause of it is as it happens sometimes when I'm playing a game, or it just happens when I'm not doing anything at all. Any help would be incredibly appreciated.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Windows 10 PC is heavily lagging

    I had a windows 10 version 1703. But due to some problem, I had to reinstall windows, which I did and got the WIndows 10 version 1511. The first day was all good. But today suddenly my pc started lagging. And the amount is huge. Cursor movement lags. Sometimes
    mouse clicks respond after even 1 minute. The browsers lag. Youtube videos lag so much. In a nutshell, everything is lagging. And I am getting disturbed with all these. I have checked everything. My processor is working good. RAM usage is low. Everything is
    under control. And as I installed new Windows so I hardly have 2-3 softwares installed.

    So what's causing this issue? I really need to know. I have got suggestions about going back to Windows 7. Should I do that? I am thinking about that seriously. Cause all the years I used windows 7, I didn't face any single problem. But in my Windows 10
    life, I have faced tons of different types of issues. I am getting fed up of this now.

    Windows XP pro
    games he's attempting to play CoD4 all settings maxed (but it ran better on his single core)
    medal of honor airborne as well it was lagging badly in single player
    assassins creed is the only other game he's tested too.

    the thing is I'm pretty sure its the video card seeing as the games don't lag at all once the PC has been switched back on after being off for about an hour and then the mass lag gradually builds up as the graphics card starts to turn black/heat up. (it also heats up to the point you can't touch the card after its mass lagging because it burns)

    at first we thought it was a shadow... but its not...
