Windows 10: Windows 10 PC wakes up within one minute of sleeping due to backup PROCESS when backup not...

My WIndows 10 PC wakes within minute of sleeping, apparently due to a scheduled backup PROCESS. However, I have never scheduled a backup, and I only know becuase I used POWERCFG to query for Waketimers:


C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg /waketimers
Timer set by [PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\StartMenuExperienceHost.exe expires at 9:48:05 PM on B.

How do I end this PROCESS-initiated Waketimer, and how do I disable the backup process so tht this does not recur?

Win 10 Backups & Sleep Mode

Hi Ruth,

I should clarify the reason the backup was cancelled.

The actual message was... "Backup was cancelled by User", and I am quite sure that it was because the PC entered Sleep Mode.

The Win 10 backup is being stored on an external 2Tb USB drive.

So to put my questions again...

• If I schedule a weekly backup, and the PC is in Sleep mode at the appointed time, will the PC wake up to allow the backup to run?
• Can Sleep Mode be prevented whilst a Backup is running?

Windows 10 does NOT wake up for backup

Hi,

I have PC with Winodws 10 Pro and scheduled backup on 4:00 AM.

For whatever reason PC does not wake up at night to backup as scheduled, but backup process starts when I wake up PC with button in the morning .

I checked the Conditions of the backup tast (Managing computer) and checked the box "Wake up the computer for task execution" (sorry, this may be not exact translation from Russian as I have russian interface), but it did not help - no effect on this checkbox

What else is needed for Windows 10 Pro wake up my PC at night for backup.

I noticed, that it wakes up the PC for some other tasks, but I do not know what are those task as I did not set up them, but for some of them my PC wakes up daily at 00:00 AM, does something and then goes to sleep again. But it doesn't wake up when I need
it for backup (

Can any one help me with this ?

Wake after sleep backup drive problem

I have a very new HP Envy PC, 64 bit, that goes to sleep and wakes with only one problem. The Seagate backup on drive H, USB 3, isn't recognized after waking up from sleep. After wake up, File Explorer doesn't see a drive H at all. Only a re-boot fixes
the problem. I've run the recommended Troubleshooting autofix. However, this had no effect. I haven't seen any other problem with the sleep and wake process.
