Use NOKIA 6230i in USA [bought in India]

Hi, I own a Nokia 6230i, bought in INDIA. I want to use the same piece in USA. What procedures must i follow to use the same in USA [Texas].

If i want to use a local USA network:

- Should i get the phone 'unlocked' in India or USA?

- Once ive activated Intenational roaming from India, must i choose the local [USA] network or is it automatically picked up by the mobile?
