  1. Windows 10 performance on older "unsupported" macbook pro ?

Hi, first post here. As stated, I installed windows 8.1 on my early 2008 macbook pro A1260, tricked bootcamp into installing, and it runs great. however, that annoying upgrade to windows 10 thing is getting to me. I'm thinking about upgrading just to see how it runs. however.... i don't have all the time in the world, being a student and working 50 hours a week.

anyone here ever done that? does windows 10 run better than 8.1 on older hardware? I run 10 on my desktop and it runs GREAT. just worried it will run horribly on my laptop that I use for school.

Apple Macbook Pro A1260 (early 2008)
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz
    4GB DDR2
    64bit OS

    :)

  2. Win 10 upgrade from mac book pro (bootcamp) Bad_Pool_Header crash

    Update:

I wasn't able to resolve the driver issues so reverted back to windows 7, the revert went very well Windows 10 performance on older "unsupported" macbook pro ? :)

However, in case someone else is trying to upgrade to win 10 and having driver issues on a macbook pro that is before mid 2012 and unsupported, one thing I didn't try was to make old programs compatible with win 10 feature found in the following links, in
this case the software Boot Camp.

    Enter on keypad " no. + # "

petrib is correct. It is a shortcut to SIM numbers.

Numbers on your SIM might not be in the position you think. Just because they appear sorted in alphabetical order in the contacts list doesn't mean that they appear in that same order on the SIM. On the SIM they appear in the order in which you input them,
unless you delete a number in which case the next one entered takes its place.

IF you install it and IF you can get it to work, I suggest installing more ram in that book.
What version of OS X are you running? That one (same as mine) can run El Capitan just fine with more ram.
You can put up to 8 gig in it.

    I also have OS X 10.11!
Let us know how you trick Bootcamp to allow to install Windows 10?

  6. Running OS X 10.11. El Capitan. The public beta version. I was under the assumption that the late 2008 MacBook Pro can run 8gb of ram, and not the early 2008 (limited to 6gb)?

And you bypass boot camp. Partition your drive manually in disk utility, format it fat. Make sure you remember the size. Then boot 8.1 or 10 from your cd drive. It will boot to the cd. Then you install like usual. Here's the catch.

Boot camp 5 and 6 is 64bit only. And 6 you can only get through apple. Or what I've heard. Can't download it from Apple downloads.
You get your boot camp zip, extract it, then use elevated command prompt to navigate to the boot camp folder, then execute the boot camp.msi. It will then run and not perform system check.

As for me... 8.1 runs faster than 7 did on this. Actually, TBH, 8.1 runs faster than El Capitan

  7. Update. Upgraded ram to 6gb and installed SSD, and kept the 750gb for storage and windows.

Even on a 7200rpm sata drive on a sata/ide converter, 10 is still very fast. Runs great on this "unsupported" MacBook. Battery life is on the low side though.
