    Windows 10 Permission Issues

In the past few days, I've been experiencing a multitude of problems when logged into my local account that I wonder may be related to each other. I first started noticing something was wrong whenever I tried to run something as administrator. There would be a delay of at least 5-10 seconds after I entered my password for the "fade" to disappear. Either that or the program would delay in starting for just as long. The next thing I noticed was when my Dropbox application wouldn't open. The application says there was a permissions error that was preventing it from starting. Next, I tried to open an epub file on Calibre. Recently, Calibre gives a message stating the following:

    Traceback most recent call last:

    File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\viewer\ui.py", line 468, in _load_ebook_worker

    File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\viewer\convert_book.py", line 213, in prepare_book

File "site-packages\calibre\utils\lock.py", line 111, in __enter__

    File "site-packages\calibre\utils\lock.py", line 91, in lock_file

    File "site-packages\calibre\utils\lock.py", line 81, in retry_for_a_time

    File "site-packages\calibre\utils\lock.py", line 66, in windows_open

WindowsError: [Error 5] Access is denied.: u'C:\\Users\\[User]\\AppData\\Local\\calibre-cache\\ev2\\metadata.json'

It looks like I have something wrong with my permissions. I have already tried running sfc /scannow and DISM, which did nothing to fix the problem. When switching to my administrator account, I had none of these issues, which makes me think the issue is isolated to my current account. But I still have no idea where it's coming from.

    :)

    Windows 10 permissions...

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

    Windows 10 Permissions Issues

Hooray!!!! Thanks so much, you are a superstar. Issue resolved.

I thought the fact that "Administrators" were listed in the permissions meant that all Admins had access, but apparently not. Now I added my specific login account, it works fine.

Thanks so much for your help, these UAC things in Windows are quite confusing, I am not (entirely) stupid!!
