Windows 10: Windows 10 Photos app hangs when I upload from ipad

I'm trying to upload my photos from ipad to windows 10 via Microsoft Photos. It recognises my Ipad and finds 1317 images then hangs, eventually the app shuts down. I've run troubleshooter and it says Hanging App not fixed. This used to work before the January update. How do I fix this?

Photo upload

Usually a digital camera will show up as a Drive in File Explorer, open that drive one of the folders with pictures on it from the camera, sometimes on a MicroSD too. Basically it's not recognizing the camera at all in file explorer ? How is it being hooked up, USB ? Camera App in Windows 10, i never used it, in All apps in start screen. List the model Samsung you have.

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Upload photos from ipad/iphone

I am having a problem uploading photos from iPad and iPhone to my pc. I get the message 'cannot connect' although my device is unlocked and plugged in to usb port. I need to upload the photos as the memory on devices is nearly full. Any advice welcomed.
