Windows 10: Windows 10 photo's app: How to move pictures while preserving which "photo app album" each...

I have windows 10, and use the photo's app to organize pictures. I use the "albums" feature to sort my pictures into different albums. I just installed a new SSD drive to make it faster and add capacity. I want to move my photo's from my old drive say D: to my new drive call it S: without losing all of my photo albums. Question1: If i simply copy my photo's from D: to S: in windows file explorer, or using robocopy command, will photo's app preserve the album info for each photo? Question2: is the "album" info meta data that is stored in each jpeg file? or in the app itself? Question3:

Why did the photos app auto-create a random photo album?

Date and time are definitely taken into account when grouping the photos; a CNET article suggests there might be more complex logic too:

The location would be determined from information embedded in the picture by the device that took it.

Concerning the uninvited appearance of the app: That seems to be a bug experienced by many people with the management of Universal app processes. For some, it's caused by a certain version of DisplayFusion.

The other system pictures to be displayed, added or removed in an album, you need to add the folder path in the
Photos app settings.



Follow the steps below to add the folder path in Photos app and check if the issue is resolved.

  Open Photo app and click on
  Settings or the gear icon located at the left side panel of the window.
  
• 
  Under Sources, click on Add a folder and select the folder from the
  File explorer window.
  
• 
  Click on Album from the left side panel of the window and check if you are able to add or remove pictures to an existing album.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
