Windows 10: Windows 10 Photos app not loading pictures from any folder

i have the same complaint as many others have. So the photos app on my windows 10 is not able to load pics from any of the folder.

Thus i request you to guide me through the same.

Windows 10 Photos App Not Loading Pictures Folder

Hi everyone. Windows 10 is here and is a huge improvement over windows 8 and 8.1. However, after finally getting my computer upgraded and working properly, I have one problem. The Photos app is not loading any of my pictures in the Pictures folder. When
I open the app, it says that in order to view my photos, they need to be in the Pictures folder. They are there. That's where they have always been. This app just doesn't want to load the pictures in there. They are divided by year folders and have subfolders
of events that i manually organized. I have been using Photo Gallery to view my pictures because it works perfectly. I just want to use the new version of it with a nicer interface. No offense to Microsoft, but their design team is stuck making their interface
look the same as it has always been. This seemed like a nice change, but doesn't seem to work. Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to get this **** app to load my pictures?

This issue might occur if there is change in photo app settings.



To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• When you say that "microsoft app", are you referring to photos app?
• Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to check the source file for photos app and also copy the picture from external device.



Step 1: I recommend you check the source file settings in the photos app settings and check if it helps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Photos" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Click on Settings on the bottom left corner of the Photos app.

4. Then check if under Sources, pictures directory is present or not.



Step 2: I suggest you to directly copy and paste the picture from the external device into the computer.

The above issue might have occur due to the following reasons:

• Photos stored on OneDrive
• Duplicate of the picture file saved on the computer.
• Corrupted/missing app files & folders.

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• Do you have duplicates of the deleted picture stored on the PC?
• Have you stored the deleted picture folder on OneDrive?

If you have saved a copy of deleted picture folder on the computer, the photos will be displayed if
Linked duplicates option is switched to On status in
Photo app.

Method 1: Follow the steps below to disable
Linked duplicates option from Photo app and check if the issue is resolved.

• Open Photo app and click on Settings or
  gear icon from the left bottom corner of the app window.
• From the right side panel, check if Linked duplicates option is switched to
  On status. If yes, slide the bar to Off and check if the changes are effective.

Method 2: If the issue persists, run
Windows apps troubleshooter to check if the any of the app files are missing or corrupted.

In many cases, the Windows Store will automatically notify you if there’s a problem with an app and try to fix the problem. If you continue experiencing problems with an app, this tool can automatically identify and fix some problems
with apps and the Store.
