Windows 10: Windows 10, plug and play sound

My windows 10 constantly keeps making the plug and play sound. It does it with nothing plugged into any of my USB ports. In fact, I have nothing external plugged into my laptop. My Windows 10 is up to date. All my drivers are up to date. Why is the happening? How can I figure out why it is doing this? Are there any logs that I can look at to see what plug and play is causing this? Rick

No sound while playing audio and video files.

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
• Did you try the same on a different player?
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

• Right click on sound icon.
• Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing audio.

My plug and play is still on running after 2.5 Hours

I would suggest you to stop the plug and play service and again start the service and check the status of this issue. Follow the steps below to stop the Plug and Play service.

• 
  Press Windows Key + R key
  
• 
  Type “Services.msc” and press Enter
  
• 
  Right click on Plug and Play and click on stop
  
• 
  Again start the service.

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.
