  1. Windows 10 - Primary mouse settings change. Same account, Different devices

I use the same windows account on two separate devices, my laptop and desktop. It's easier for me to use my desktop mouse with the primary click being the right click. However my laptop can only really function with the primary click being the left click because of the touch pad. For whatever reason the primary click on both devices keep switching and I'm not sure if it's because I use the same account.

Is there a way to keep my desktop mouses primary click on right and my laptops primary click on left?

    :)

  2. Mouse primary button setting

I use a scroll mouse on the desktop with windows 10, and use "Right" as my primary button. I remote login to the same desktop while I am away using a laptop (mac os or windows 10) which has a normal mouse, and every time I login, I have to change the primary
    button setting to "Left".

Can this setting be saved when logging in using remote desktop, so windows understands to use different primary buttons for mouse?

Windows 10 - Different primary button for two mice

    Hi,

    Currently I use a Windows 10 x64 laptop.

For ergonomic reasons, I use an external mouse (as left-handed) with an external keyboard when docked, and use trackpad as right handed with laptop keyboard when undocked.

Prior to Windows 10, operating system's "Mouse and Trackpad" settings allow to configure external mouse with right button as primary button and trackpad as righ handed i.e., left button as primary button. This allowed my usage based on docked vs. undocked
    to suite my needs.

But with Windows 10, there is no such option. i.e., cannot configure different mouse having its own primary button. One option though is, go to "Mouse and Trackpad" settings and change primary button to "Left" or "Right". Though this is an option, but during
any given work days, switch to dock vs. undocked usage multiple times and it is a pain every time go to settings and change this setting, very inconvenient and a painful user experience.

Is there a way, in Windows 10 to have different primary button respective to different mouse?

Even in case of two external mice are connected, there is no option to configure them as one left-handed and the other as right-handed. So issue isn't just related to Mouse+Trackpad combination but also visible with Mouse+Mouse combination.

Here the snapshots of windows 7 and windows 10 Mouse settings UI:

Windows 7 Mouse Properties: It has a "Device" drop down list, and user can set as right-handed or left-handed for
    each device as needed.

Windows 10: There is no "Device" drop down list to select device. Instead it has a
system level single mouse setting not ergonomic for multi-mouse users.

By the way, windows 10 has two ways to control Mouse settings, Windows 7 style (which is above image), or from Windows 10 Settings. Either way, results are same.

    Thanks!

Unable to change primary alias - Microsoft Account

    Hi John,

As per the description, you are experiencing issue with you are unable to change the primary alias for your Microsoft account on the system.

I certainly understand your concern and appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix this issue.

I would like to provide you with the information that
an account alias is an email address or phone number that you use to sign in to your Microsoft account. You can have multiple aliases, and use any of them with Microsoft services such as Outlook.com, Skype, OneDrive,
    Office, Xbox, Windows and more.

Your primary alias appears on devices such as your Xbox, Surface, and Windows Phone, and is the email OneDrive sends from when you share. You can choose a different alias to be the primary one at any time.

An alias is also the best way to change your email, but keep all your mail.
Add an alias, then make the new alias primary. Then you can
keep or remove the original alias.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

Note: The email alias at the top of the list without a Make primary link is your current primary alias.

    • Uncheck the Send me promotional offers from Microsoft box if you like, and click/tap on Yes to confirm.
You may also try the following steps given below and check if that helps.

    • Navigate to Start>Settings>Account>Your Account.
    • In the right pane, click on Sign in with a local account instead.
    • Provide your current Microsoft Account Password.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.
    • You can leave the Enter Password option empty, however, it is highly recommended to keep a password on your system to keep it safe.

    For reference:

I would suggest you to refer to the article given below and check if that helps.
