Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro Anniversary Edition Strange Login Problem

I'm having a strange (login) problem with my Windows 10 Pro Anniversary edition.
Recently I decided to reinstall my desktop since I wanted to upgrade to the Anniversary update of winodws, but for some reason it was failing to do it via Windows update and doing it manually wasn't working either.
I decided to get an ISO from the Microsoft ISO creation tool (or whatever it is called *Biggrin).
So I got the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Anniversary Update ISO file, I burned to a DVD and did a complete fresh reinstall on my Samsung 850 EVO disc (completely formatted it).

This was about a week ago.
Currently I am having the issue that every time I boot the PC from a completely shut-down state, the first time I am on the login screen and I type my password (or PIN) -correctly-, it says "Welcome" (with the spinning icon thingy) for a second or so, and then returns to the login screen. Typing my password (or PIN) again gives the same problem (doesn't matter how many times I do it), it keeps returning to the login screen where I have to re-enter the password.
The only thing that fixes it (every time), is clicking on the power icon in the bottom right corner, choosing restart and waiting until it is restarted. Then, when it is back at the login screen, it DOES accept my password/PIN and regularly starts Windows.

I'm absolutely baffeled by this problem, since it happens EVERY time at startup, and is fixed EVERY time by restarting (once) from the login screen. I already tried disabling the need to login with a password (via cmd -> netplwiz), but this results in the following pattern: The first time I boot my PC it will ask for a password/PIN which results in the same loop as before, and then when I restart it it will instantly go to "Welcome.." -> and go into Windows (without even asking for the password, which is what I set it up to do.)

I hope anyone has some ideas/suggestions as to what might the cause of this -rather strange- issue.

The Windows 10 sign-in screen no longer shows my accounts’ email addresses

I have now updated two computers with the anniversary edition and returned one back to the original and may do the second. The anniversary Edition update eliminates the Windows 10 Logo on the Login Screen. I only get a medium blue screen with my picture
and login slot on the screen. Where is the Windows 10 Logo Hero picture???? How do I get it back????

 

First try running sfc /scannow from an admin command prompt to check/fix system files.

That behaviour could also be due to a corrupted user profile. Create another account and see if that works OK. If it does then you probably have a bad user profile and will need to move your files across to a new account

Thanks for replying!
I have followed the steps u suggested. The "sfc /scannow" resulted in no errors.
So I created another user account and voila, that 'fixed' the problem.
When I booted my PC and couldn't log in to my own account, I then could login to the other account.

Is there a way to not have to transfer everything between user accounts, to fix the account I am currently using?

I haven't found an easy method for transferring accounts. See these links for guidance http://www.techbout.com/fix-corrupt-...ndows-10-9139/ and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...#1TC=windows-7 There is a method of editing the registry but I've never done this and can't vouch for it.

You need to create a new account and copy the profile across. Log in to a different account from the ones you are copying files from and to (i.e. use a third account). Note when you copy the files across not to copy files starting ntuser... Note you might have moved some of your user files to another drive and you will need to copy those also.

You can delete the offending account once you are content all is working. Note I also have a backup admin account in case I have problems with my main one (belt & braces approach!).
