Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro Backup Skipped Files

Backup skips files that I cannot locate on my PC. Error log indicates Error Code 0x8100002F.

See following screen print:



All suggested procedure recommends "Click on OneDrive Cloud Icon" on Taskbar. I do not have a "OneDrive Cloud Icon".

OneDrive is not on my PC; however, some files must be resident somewhere.

Please provide procedures to correct the problem.

Backup skipped

Hi Ken,

For us to better isolate your concern, we need additional information. Kindly answer the following questions below:

• Are your backing up files or creating a system image?
  
• Are you getting any error messages?
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

The Backup completed but some files were skipped

Thank you for using Windows 10.

We regret for the inconvenience. I would like to inform you that if you are trying to backup a file which is on the drive where the backup is being created, it will skip those files.

You may check in libraries if your personal files which you have already uninstalled are present there. If it’s there, you may delete those files & try to run the backup again.

You may also try the following steps and check if that helps:

• Restore default storage locations on all folders (i.e. Pictures, Documents, Downloads, Favorites, Searches etc...)
• Rename the folder in explorer to match the default folder.
• Restore the default libraries and run the back up.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
