Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro - can't access linked digital licence after motherboard change

Starting point - Desktop PC running Windows 10 Pro retail licence named, let's say, not really "MyPC". Not Windows 11 compatible. 16MB memory - this detail is useful later. NB this is a retail licence NOT an OEM licence so I would expect it to be transferrable. Activation status BEFORE upgrade - "Windows is activated with a digital licence linked to your Microsoft account" I installed a new motherboard and increased to 32MB memory and Windows now says it is not activated. I went through the activation troubleshooter, and selected the option for 'I have recently changed hardware on this

Keeping Windows licence linked to account when changing motherboard

My Windows 10 Pro licence is linked to my Microsoft account, so when I change motherboard will I be able to use licenced Windows on the new motherboard without doing anything first such as deactivating Windows on the old motherboard?

Signed in as admin via hotmail account. Troubleshooting

Tried to select upgraded hardware - motherboard as last one failed shortly after windows upgrade digital licence linked to my account win 10 pro.

Reactivate windows 10

Ive selected desktop listed checked box and clicked activate.

And ratger quickly next box appears.

Unable to activate windows.
