Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro crashing watching online videos or during music production

I have never had so much issue with my hardware in years when using Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 10... until a few weeks ago.


To best explain, I would sometimes try music production, playing video games, or watching even netflix or youtube, and Windows would either stutter a quick second then eventually lock up, or everything visually would lock up, but i could still move my mouse cursor around for a few more seconds before it stopped.


At the end of October, my nVidia GTX 1070 had what sounded like coil whirr. thinking it was a safety measure, I shut the computer off. I tried to boot it again the following day, and the GPU blew sparks out of the power slot.


since then, I have replaced the PSU, Mobo, CPU, RAM, and have RMA'd the GPU. everything new has not changed the random crashing. I have performed a full format and install of Windows 10. the only 2 drives i have online right now are both SSD and their diagnostics program says they're in good health. Have 3 HDD's but are not connected, of which when all connected, only 1 does not read.


I turn on my Firewire 1394a audio interface connected to a PCI-e 1394a card, and the freezes happen faster during playback of youtube or netflix.


I've been attempting to troubleshoot and resolve all of this for the past 3 weeks, and going bald in the process.


How can I further troubleshoot this or figure out the root of all the problems with this setup? Bear in mind, SSD's worked in a backup computer, 1394a FW PCI card worked in backup computer. GPU driver is fresh installed and latest.

To assist you further with this issue, please let us know the following details.

• Let us know whether the issue is specific to online videos or it is happening with other videos present in your system too?
• Do you face the same issue when using Microsoft Edge ?

As the initial troubleshooting steps, I would suggest you to check all the available Windows Updates. Installation of recent Windows Updates should fix the issue.

If the issue still persists, then try updating the Display driver and check. Here is the steps:

    Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run command box.

    Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

    In Display Adapter, expand Display Adapter, right-click , and then click
    Update.

Yes I have completed said steps and still this is an issue. I have updated graphics drivers, windows, the whole 9 yards.

 

all games crash!

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
