Windows 10: Windows 10 pro doesn't recognize my cd/dvd after installing update..??

After windows installed the last update on my win 10 pro/64 it doesn't recognize my cd/dvd drive at all. Its not listed even in device manager or anywhere at all. It fails to find it when you ask it to locate it. I'm not a geek and have tried all the easier things I could on the net and utube. There are many such cases I've seen but none I've tried have worked... I've even bought a new cd/drive, its an HP 575781-801. ???

CD/DVD drive not recognized

---I'm okay with opening latops. I've opened this one 3 times, adding SSD HD and upgrading RAM. I'll be able to try this later on, Friday, probably. With it spinning up when a CD is inserted, I'm not sure this would help. I'd appreciate advice on this.

This might have occurred due to corrupted\outdated DVD\CD-ROM driver.

Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.

Step 1: Try updating the DVD\CD-ROM drives from device manager.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand DVD\CD-ROM drives.
• 
  Right click on the driver select
  Update Driver Software.
  
• 
  Restart the computer.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to check and install if there is any latest firmware update for DVD drive from the computer manufacturer.

I suggest you to go through the Hardware Installation section in the
Owner’s Manual
to know to install the CD recorder. If the drive is not recognized by Windows after installing, try the troubleshooting steps listed in
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs.
