I get the following error msg "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."The problem is completely random. Rebooted today & yesterday then was OK for 4 days before last reboot. New computer just finished build in August. Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Intermittant Windows 10 freezing or rebooting

    Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new video card (GeForce GTX 1070) to run VR and I wanted a clean system to work with.

    I took the following steps:

    1. Updated the motherboard bios to the latest level.

    2. Installed a brand new hdd.

    3. Installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit from DVD.

    4. Updated until it asked me to install Windows 10.

    5. Upgraded to Windows 10.

    6. Installed the new drivers from the GeForce website.

Since then I have been experiencing intermittent freezing or rebooting with no BSD. It does not seem related to cpu or gpu load. I was able to use the Vive headset for several hours with no trouble, but had the system freeze with no intensive tasks running.

I've include the files Gerry always seems to ask for Windows 10 Pro New computer system reboots intermittently for no reason :)

Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

I'm just looking for some help determining where I should be looking next for the issue.

    Thanks,

    Chris

New Computer: Upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Pro

Mom is getting a new computer. Although the computer will have Windows 10 Home preinstalled, we want the Pro version.

Are the steps correct to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro?

    • Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation > Go to store > make your purchase, follow the on screen instructions and within 5 to 10 minutes you will be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro.

We are in Canada. I am guessing that the upgrade price is close to US$100 converted to Canadian dollars?
