Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro - Shutdown when idle despite all power settings off

Brand new HP Omen laptop, clean format then installed Windows 10 Pro. All power options configured to 'do nothing' no matter what period of inactivity, yet Windows still will shutdown if inactive for a period of time. Not sleep, or hibernate, total shutdown and turn off.

Event viewer screenshot attached, doesn't appear to show any event which would have triggered the shutdown at 23:23 with the laptop being turned back on at 23:50.

Windows 10 Shuts Down When Idle - despite changing Power Settings

My desktop computer that experienced this idle shutdown problem was fairly old....but still working fine until I updated to Windows 10. There was no way that I could control the idle shutdowns after that upload and I was crazy trying to manage keeping
my computer ON. I tried all of the suggestions and more ...nothing worked. Eventually, I purchased a new computer and I am sane again. It was a miserable experience.

 

Windows 10 shutdown doesn't unmount despite......

Windows 10 shutdown doesn't unmount my internal hard drive despite setting the power button to shutdown. This means that I cannot access windows partition on my hard drive when I log into Linux.

1. Are you getting any error message or error code?

2. Did you make any changes in the power management settings?

This might be due to the corruption of power management settings. Hence I suggest you to follow the below

methods and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try running the Power Troubleshooter to check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Run the Power troubleshooter on the system.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key + X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Power troubleshooter
