Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro - Taskbar icons [shows all in overflow area, but only 1 at a time in taskbar]

Fresh install of windows 10 Pro + plus latest patches & feature release;


The Taskbar icon area [bottom right] appears to be so small only 1 icon can be shown at any one time, if another icon is added by dragging it in from the overflow area or by another app, it covers the first icon obscuring it.


i.e. the icon notification area does not auto expand to show multiple icons.


All my icons are visible only when I have then in the overflow area. Re-starting/stopping file explorer and rebooting has no effect. Hovering the mouse pointer over the icon area does not show any borders which can be expanded.


THIS IS NOT ABOUT HOW TO ENABLE ICONS or HIDE THEM!


I have looked in the settings and can't see any option for locking the icon notification area preventing the typical auto expanding behaviour normally experienced in Windows.

System Icons/Overflow arrow missing from taskbar

Greetings! I need help! I am running windows 10 pro with updates

Recently i had to force a restart, now the little overflow arrow on the right side of the taskbar is gone and i am not able to access networking, volume, or any recently opened programs like my VPN. I have tried several fixes listed online, such as turning
them on and off in the various settings menus. I have tried exiting explorer and restarting it as well as the pc itself several times.

Basically everything listed here short of the system restore..Fix System icons missing from Windows Taskbar - Techcult

Taskbar icons

Hi,

To address your concern, follow the steps below on how to show hidden icons on the taskbar.

• Open Settings, and click on the Personalization
  icon.
• Click on Taskbar on the left side, and click on the
  Select which icons appear on the taskbar link under the Notification area section on the right.
• Turn on Always show all icons in the notification area at the top

System Icons in Taskbar Bouncing Left and Right?

There might be an application running on and off in the system's background that's why taskbar icons are rearranging from time to time. May we know the result after you perform a clean boot? Also may we ask for a screenshot of your taskbar.

In the meantime, can you try to toggle on Always show all icons in the notification area option in Windows settings. Kindly follow these steps:

1. On your keyboard, press Windows + I.
2. Choose Personalization.
3. Click Taskbar.
4. Under Notification area, press Select which icons will appear on the taskbar.
5. Toggle on Always show all icons in the notification area.

After performing the steps above, check if issue persists.
