Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro, Version 1809, Start menu won't save Pins/settings

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,


I recently received the update to 1809, and have had some issues with the start menu. First, as soon as the update was complete, the start menu reset to a "factory default setting" with all of my original pins removed/replaced. I figured what the heck, the menu needed a cleanup anyway, so I reset all the pins, or at least tried, everytime I went back to the start menu, it was back to the default.


I did a search and found something about deleting a registry key (HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/CloudStore), which seemed to work at first, but then, not so much.


I also found something about force quitting explorer.exe, then deleting the key, the restarting explorer.exe, and this seemed to work for a bit, but then, not so much.


I looked and looked, and finally found myself here, frustrated and a little pissed off too.


There doesn't seem to be a lot of information from Microsoft about this, but apparently I'm not the only one suffering.


What is the solution? Is it a bug? Will it be fixed with an upcoming patch? Please shed some light on this.


For added information, I have a Windows 10 pro, 1809, on an AMD Ryzen 7, 1700 with 16G of ram.

Tried the fist no dice. Even tried uninstalling Kasperski still no go
