Windows 10 Product Key on Two Bootable Drives Sharing the Same Product Key?

    Hi

    Situation:

I have a 10 years old laptop that came with HDD Windows 7 Vista I still have the sticker key on Vista but it doesn't work on Win 10.

At the same time I installed a separate drive SSD and installed Windows 7 using my university's enterprise product key Don't have a record

    Status

Both got upgraded to Windows 10 later in the year. And today I found out both are sharing the same product key!!!

    Problem:

I want to take the SSD from my 10 yo laptop and boot it on a different laptop, but my concern is, how do I ensure I can still use my 10 yo laptop running HDD Win 10 without having licensing problem from Windows? Is this even possible?

    :)

    My Product Key

You can create a bootable USB, DVD or CD of Kyhi's recovery drive:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

Boot the computer from that and it contains Superfly's Showkey Plus utility which will display any product keys stored in bios/UEFI and what version of Windows the product key is for:

Keys are not required for the upgrade process. Windows 10 has a built-in generic key which it uses to install - it acquires the underlying Win7/Win8 activation during the upgrade process and assigns your device ID as a valid Windows 10 activated device. Subsequent installs will thus activate using your device ID. You will not require a key - should you be prompted, select "skip". Activation is automatic thereafter.

    Windows Product Key

A friend of mine has an all-in-one that came with Windows 8 pre-installed. He erased the original OS thinking he could install another version of Windows 8. One thing he encountered, that he didn't expect, the BIOS/UEFI has a password. So, basically he is locked out from installing another OS. His BIOS has the product key nestled inside. Is it possible to find out which version the product key belong to?
