Windows 10: Windows 10 Product Key

Ok so I bought a new computer for my brother and I installed drivers and programs for him and everything was working fine until I scanned with Malwarebytes. I found 4 pieces of riskware in the registry each called Riskware.KMS and I thought the person who sold us the computer pirated the windows 10 because of KMS software. Though I found A key through a key finder and I searched it up and I saw it's a generic key. I also found a Windows 8.1 product key that is in the bios and should be legit. After doing some research I saw that the generic key gets put as the product key when you upgrade. So I think the seller upgraded windows 8.1 to 10. But if it's a legit upgrade why is there a Riskware in the registry called KMS? I've only downloaded ROBLOX and some other programs like chrome, ShareX and other stuff from ninite.com and didn't visit any malicious and suspicious sites.


I'm sorry if you don't understand I'm not the best explainer. I just want to know if I should buy a real copy if my seller did pirate the windows.

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Since the laptop has no battery compartment wherein the product key is usually located, we recommend that you follow these steps to find your Windows product key:

• Press Windows + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Enter this command: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
  and hit Enter.
