Windows 10: Windows 10 Profile keeps getting corrupted, other user accounts not affected

I have a hugely annoying problem with my main computer. My windows 10 profile (with microsoft account) keeps getting corrupted. I believe it has happened to me 10 times now and the last 3 times have been within the last 3 weeks. 2 of which after fresh installs of Windows 10 on my computer. My wife uses a windows account on the same machine (I am using it now) and does not have the issue at all. I install the same software for all accounts after a fresh install (chrome/7-ZIP/iTunes/Mediamonkey/VLC/Java/Notepad++/QBittorrent/Skype/Teamviewer 14) with Ninite


After a fresh install I link my documents/music/video/downloads to a shared folder on my network on a Synology NAS. Only Desktop folder remains local


I do not use oneDrive or Cortona


The only difference I can think off between my wife's and my account is that I use dual verification with Google Authenticator and my wife does not.


The windows version installed is 17763.195


I have run SFC and DISM and no issues have been found.


The malicious software removal tool has found no malicious software

Corrupted User Profile

Hi,

There maybe a couple of reasons behind this misbehavior such as a corrupted system file. However, we would like to be able to verify which process exactly is corrupted.

• When you install, does it give you any form of error message when it fails?
• What other processes doesn't go through on the said User account?

As per troubleshooting, you may refer to
Likhitha V's response on this thread. See if it applies to you. However,
just to give you a heads up. The steps are about creating a new user profile and deleting the current one. I suggest you back up your files so you may be able to transfer it. You can also find information about it on the same thread.

Windows 10 user account immediately logs out

• Have you tried the steps provided above?
• If you have tried the steps provided above, is issue still persisting?
• What was the result of SFC scan? Did it find corruption or not?

Try to create new user profile as an administrator and see if issue persists in new user profile. For creating new user profile you may refer to the steps provided below.

• 
  Press Windows key + R
  
• 
  Type control userpasswords2 and click OK
  
• 
  Click on add under users tab
  
• 
  Click the option, "Sign-in without a Microsoft account
  
• 
  Click on Local account
  
• 
  Choose a name for the account

  Add password if you want to

  Apply and click OK.

I can't create a New User Profile that is Not Corrupt! Please Help!

Hi,

I realize the inconvenience you are facing in creating the new user profile on your device. Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

As a work around, I suggest you to enable the built-in administrator account, log-in with the admin account to create a new user profile and check if you are able to check. This will let us know if the issue persists with user account or the operating system.

Step 1: Follow the steps to enable Built-in admin account.

Enable Built-in administrator.

• Press Windows + X key together on your desktop screen.
• Click on Command Prompt (admin) to open
  Command Prompt.
• Type the following command and hit Enter:

• net user administrator /active: yes (Check for the spaces)

4. Now log off from the current user and try to login to the administrator account that is enabled.　　

Note: Please follow the same steps and type net user administrator /active: no to disable admin account after the troubleshooting is done.　

Step 2: Refer to the articles to create a test user account/ Microsoft account respectively.
