Windows 10: Windows 10: Programs freeze when using a feature involving file system access.

I recently started to have some problems on Windows 10. I first noticed it when I wanted to work with GIMP. When I tried exporting an image the process stopped responding. I killed the process. This time I tried simply creating new project in GIMP and the process stopped responding again. Till now I noticed similar behavior in qbittorrent and Steam when trying to install a game. When the process is not killed it starts responding again after a long time.


First time the problem occurred was on Windows 10 Education 2004 Version. I did the Update to 20H2 few days ago but the problem still persists. The problem seems to have something to do with file system access or pop up dialogs.


My System has 16 GB of RAM and 500 GB 750 Samsung EVO SSD.


I tried optimizing the drive using Optimize-Drive CMDLET and I run CHKDSK on all volumes on this SSD. None of which worked. I am currently using about 400 GB out of the available 500 GB.


Has anybody encountered similar problems before? Is there a solution?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Is there still a card file program file on Windows 10?

• What exactly are you referring to with the Card file?
• Was this program pre-installed on your device?
• How have you upgraded to Windows 10?

I suggest you to check in the Programs and Features, if this program being on your system or not.

• Press Windows + x key to open a task list from the bottom left corner of the screen.
• Select Programs and Features.
• Check if there are any programs related to Card file being installed on your computer.

Programs keep freezing(not resporting)

As the programs freezes and unable to access the videos on Microsoft Edge, I understand the inconvenience.

Do let us know the following information to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your device?
• From when are you facing this issue?
• Is there any error code/ error message with this issue?

Step 1: Run the System maintenance troubleshooter.

System Maintenance troubleshooter finds and clean up unused files and shortcuts and performs maintenance tasks.

• Press Windows key and type Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and hit Enter.
• Click on View all in the left pane of the window.
• Select System Maintenance.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Step 2: I suggest you to install the latest updates on your device, install them and check with the status of this issue.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Try to access the videos on Internet Explorer and check if there is any issues.
