Windows 10: Windows 10 programs/search bar not working after update to 1903

Recently, I have decided to update my computer an Asus E200HA, to Windows 10 1903, mainly because I just had it with the constant notifications of failed updates/lack of disk space. I had to do a fresh restart on the computer before I could even begin because even though I deleted all of my programs/files from the computer, it still didn't have enough drive space to conduct the updates the computer has a 32GB SSD, and almost all of it was taken up by Windows. I reset the computer, installed updates, and the update to 1903 kept failing. After three sets of updates, it finally succeeded and everything seemed to be fine. A few days later, and suddenly the issues started to pop up:

1. The search bar does not work. If I try to type up anything, it displays a blank gray box.

2. Many of the preinstalled Windows programs don't seem to work, such as Edge, Mail, Store, Groove Music, Windows Media Player, and Photos. I haven't tried anything else.


Any suggestions? I really don't want to reset the computer again and reinstall the updates, because that was a real pain...

HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

 

Windows 10 download speed issues

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.

Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.

 

Upgraded PC from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 1903 10 Pro Search bar not working.

I Recently performed the upgrade from a Windows 7 Pro machine to Windows 10 1903. The upgrade was successful until I would try to use the search bar next to the windows icon. When trying to Type the search bar disappears. Also when I click the Windows logo
the search bar disappears. The search bar is visible untill clicking or trying to type in it. We have tried almost everything to fix the issue. Fixes tried are listed bellow. We have found that if we do the Upgrade to later versions of Windows (1709 to be
exact) the search bar works fine. We have tried to do updates to Windows 1903 after successfully getting 1709 installed and working but once the machine is on 1903 the search bar breaks again.

Press the Start key and type the word CMD, right click on the command prompt and select Run as administrator, enter the following commands one by one followed by the Enter key:

•- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

•- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

•- DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

•- sfc /scannow

Please try these steps and check after each step. If these don't work, let me know. I will provide further troubleshooting steps.

1. Reregister Cortana

Windows Key+X > Click Powershell (Admin) > Copy the below and paste into Powershell > Enter > Reboot your computer

Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

2. Restart Windows Explorer

Windows Key+X

Click Task Manager

Head to Processes tab and select Windows Explorer

Right click > Click Restart
