    Windows 10 puts wrong user name - Microsoft Account


    Every time I fresh install windows and set it up using my Microsoft account login the last couple of letters of my account name get cut off and I'm stuck with a user account linked with half a name


    I already know the "Fix" is to create a local account, delete the Microsoft account and link your email to the local account with the correct name


    I'm looking to fix the root cause that is to change the name that syncs to all new installs or delete that name and retype the name to create a new sync


    plus pretty much all links in other posts explaining how to change this redirect back to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/products/windows?os=windows-10 and does not help at all

    I already know how to fix this after it happens, there's answers on the community that tell you to make a local account with the correct name, delete the old account, then re-enter the MS Account (email) into the new one and enjoy...

    The problem I have is that when I do new installs, I don't want to keep doing that over and over again. WHY is Windows putting the wrong user name in the first place? Can MS fix this on their end? I know it has something to do with the server side (sync)
    I was an insider since Win10 10130, had this problem form the beginning. I checked out my Microsoft Account to see if my name was spelled correctly in there, it was. Every time Windows is reinstalled, the user name is cut off by a few letters and it's soooo
    annoying... So I'm hoping MS might be able to check out my MicrosoftAccount and see if there's anything that can fix this.

    Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

    Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

    I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

    It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

    EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Windows 10 puts wrong user name - Microsoft Account :(
