Windows 10: Windows 10 RAID 1 drives - moving to a new PC, I see them labeled as "Dynamic" and...

I'd appreciate any help I can get here. I've got two 6 gb drives that I use as the first step of my photography backup and I've moved them to a new PC with Windows 10 Pro. I had read on a separate forum that someone had just "plugged them in" and they worked, so that's what I was hoping for. No go, though.

So, I imported both, but now they aren't linked. I can't see how to link them again, as the "add mirror" is greyed out because they both have data on them. Do I need to format one and then re-mirror, or is there an easier way to link them?

how to install Windows in a raid 1 config

Hi. I have two 160gb hdd and I wanted to install windows in a raid 1 configuration with those drives. I have windows 10 currently installed in a third 320gb hdd and already transformed the other two into a single raid 1 partition. How do I install
windows in the raid 1? Do I have to move the system to that partition or do I have to install it from scratch into it? If it's the second option, how could I install windows in a dynamic partition? thanks

 

Op[tions for a failed dynamic disk

One of my raid 1 drives failed and I removed it. the remining drive is functioning well (have 3 TB of data used; OS is on a separated drive; all data are backed up in multiple splaces).

1. Is there any disadvantage to leaving the dynamic disk as is even though there is no corresponding mirrored drive?
2. Can i replace my failed raid drive and establish it as a dynamic drive to work with the other dynamic one without having to remove the partitions on the still functional dynamic drive and start again?
3. if i have to "start from scratch" would it be more effective to set up Windows 10 storage drives instead of RAID1?

 

RAID 1 on new Windows 10 PG

I'm about to install Windows 10 Pro on a new PC with two identical HDDs. I want to set up RAID 1 using the two drives. How can I do this?
