Windows 10: Windows 10 randomly freeze

Hi, my I've been using my PC with Windows 10 for a while. One day (more than a year ago), I noticed that it randomly freeze at times when I browse the internet, play games, or even in the Windows Explorer. The freeze sometimes came every 2-3 minutes, sometimes longer than that and it took around a minute for the PC to come back in operation. During the freeze, my browser (Chrome) sometimes said 'waiting for cache...'. If I watch video streaming, the video stops, but sometimes I still can scroll other browser pages that I open earlier before the freeze. Sometimes I can just do nothing during the freeze. In some occasion my Windows Explorer became broken (unreadable text and buttons) after the freeze that I had to restart my PC.


I tried update Windows and all my drivers, clear malware, clear internet cache and history, run memory check, run drive error check, change my browser, and nothing worked. Then I just ignored that PC and hope that future Windows update might help.


Now I have to use this PC. I run Windows update and everything is the same. So yesterday I reinstalled my Windows 10, now using Education version. The installation took around 4-5 hours. After the format, I noticed slight freeze at the beginning of Windows login, but after installation of the latest graphic driver, it ran smoothly.


Today I use this PC again and here comes the freeze while I watch video streaming. I thought it was because of software, now I'm afraid that it might be because of some of my hardware.


PS. I notice that if I'm typing this while listening to the video streaming, the PC freeze 2-3 times and I could not type. But when I close all the Youtube video, the freeze does not happen. Though this might be just a coincidence.

Intel Core i5-4460

Ram 16 Gb

SSD 120 Gb (Windows drive)

HDD 1 Tb (haven't tried formatting this one yet)

Geforce GTX 970

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

• Which is the last Windows update build you've applied to the computer?
• Are there any third party applications that are currently installed?

Furthermore, we suggest that you do a BIOS update to your computer. Here are the steps:

• Check the motherboard manufacturer's website to find the specific model of your motherboard.
• Go to the computer manufacturer's website.
• Look for the computer model that you're using.
• You should find any available BIOS update.
