Windows 10: Windows 10 re-activation

Hi, I had an activated copy of Windows 7 Ultimate running on my computer, which was then upgraded to Windows 10 Pro a few years ago. Everything worked until my motherboard/CPU crashed a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I can no longer find the disk/product key for the original Retail Windows 7.I have another computer, so I removed the boot drive from the old machine and put it in the new working computer. It works, but I'm unable to re-activate it. As you can imagine, there's a lot of software installed over more than a decade, and I'm not sure I can find all the registration information, so I'

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

• Go to Start
