  1. Windows 10 Reactivation after hardware change - Error 0x803fa067

I had an activated version of Windows 10 on my previous setup. I changed my hardware motherboard and CPU, and now it wants me to reactivate. I don't remember whether I upgraded from Windows 7 or purchased a new Windows 10, and I don't have my product key. I found a backup product key in the registry, but when I try to change my product key to this one, it says the product key can't be used on this copy of Windows. It was activated before the hardware change. How do I get it activated again without buying a new copy?

    :)

  2. windows 10 reactivation after hardware change

I just changed motherboards, and When I follow the the steps listed in the "reactivate windows 10 after hardware change" support page, it gives me the message "unable to activate windows" message after I sign in and identify my device,
with no error code, just a subheader that says "can't activate windows 10 on this device, try again later."

Windows 10 Reactivation after hardware change - Error 0x803fa067

Error 0x803fa067 when trying to activate Windows 10 Pro after a hardware change

I have recently upgraded my system due to a faulty motherboard and DIMMs - I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro and to my dismay I can't activate it anymore, eventually getting error 0x803fa067.

When I try to update my product key after fumbling with the "my hardware has recently changed" option (as per this KB Reactivating Windows after a hardware change - Microsoft Support)
I can't find my new "device" (i.e. the new motherboard) and even if I try to reactivate my currently (dead) listed motherboard, I get a "We can't reactivate Windows on this device, try again later"...

    What gives?
